    Immediately after the passing
  • Death certificate: Have a doctor officially confirm the death and obtain a death certificate (A-certificate);
  • Notify my Goodbye: If the deceased had an active membership with my Goodbye, you, as their trusted contact, can access all stored data, including wishes for the farewell and estate. Visit www.mygoodbye.com and click on 'report death'. Access will be granted within 8 hours of notification;
  • Inform immediate family: Notify close family members, friends, and the deceased's employer;
  • Engage a funeral director: Contact a funeral director to discuss and plan the final care, viewing, and funeral arrangements.

  • Declaration of death: File or have the funeral director file with the civil registry of the municipality where the person passed away. This results in a death certificate, necessary for burial or cremation and later for settling the estate;
  • Respect wishes: Consult the stored data at my Goodbye of the deceased to honor specific wishes regarding their farewell, passwords, will, a codicil, and other important documents;
  • Funeral insurance: Verify the existence of funeral or life insurance (information stored at my Goodbye) and contact the insurer.

  • My Goodbye: If the deceased had an active membership, you can access their stored data as secure PDFs, containing all essential financial, legal, and tax information crucial for estate settlement;
    No my Goodbye? Follow the steps below:
  • Banks and insurance: Notify banks and insurance companies of the death. Block accounts if necessary;
  • Pensions and benefits: Inform pension funds and social services to cease or adjust benefits to survivor benefits;
  • Tax authorities: Notify the tax authorities of the death. They can assist with tax matters.

  • Executor of the will: If there is a will, contact the executor or notary to begin estate settlement;
  • Settling the inheritance: Distribute assets according to the will or, in the absence of a will, according to legal inheritance rules.
